Not anymore! Thinking about our environment is more and more in the forefront of our minds and now it’s easier than ever to stop taking away from our planet while being fashionable and FABULOUS. Stores are popping up everywhere and POWERFUL people are scooping up their designs by the bagful. It’s a great place to find inexpensive basics like leggings, t shirts, hoodies and tanks and not only are their clothes great quality and an awesome fit, they are eco-friendly, made in the US and sweatshop free (No kids sewing my pants). AMERICAN APPAREL clothes are made from 20% organic materials and they’re hoping to bump that up to 80% soon. They also have a "Sustainable" label that is 100% USDA organic cotton. They promote environmentally friendly practices by recycling over a million pounds of scrap fabric per year and they have solar panels on the roof of their LA headquarters. AMERICAN APPAREL also has a bicycle lending program for employees and according to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals it is a vegan-friendly clothing company. Buy smart. Buy American. AMERICAN APPAREL is FABULOUS! SIMPLE SHOES is another seriously POWERFUL eco-friendly brand. The shoes are hip and FABULOUS and who would have known that they are eco-friendly as well. SIMPLE is dedicated to creating "shoes for a happy planet." They combine a passion for trendy, contemporary designs with an environmental commitment. Owned by the same corporation that makes UGGS and TEVAS, they have set forth to create a company that doesn’t take away from our planet. SIMPLE is committed to making products that are 100% sustainable through the use of "green" materials with the hope of making shoes that do less harm and more good. Their first line, The Green Toe collection, included two designs of all natural materials. It was a start, but then came EcoSNEAKS, sustainable sneakers. They look great and use materials like recycled car tires, certified organic cotton, PET (recycled plastic bottles), recycled bike tires, and hemp, so they a leave a better ecological footprint than ordinary sneakers. This fall SIMPLE introduced Planet Walkers (dress shoes) made with Bamboo, cork, latex and eco-certified leathers and suede. From the Grammys to the Oscars, this year’s awards shows were definitely an upsweep from the last with respect to hair. Every A-list glam squad was either on call or working hard around the clock to bring their celebrity clients a style befitting of Hollywood’s grandeur. The choice of coif – updos.


The amazing gowns and attire were matched perfectly with buns, soft pin-ups and sensually, sexy pull back hair styles. We would be amiss to think that celebs stepped out glam-less. Country music’s princess, Taylor Swift’s loose, curled knot with loose goddess waves, R & B’s own Keyshia Cole’s polished, pulled updo with tight curls and actress Lisa Rinna’s dark updo with volumized curls were favorites at the Grammys. Best Actress Winner, Kate Winslet’s soft, pulled back hair with a sculptured under curl, Best Supporting Actress Winner, Penelope Cruz’s ballroom bun with bangs, and Angelina Jolie with her partial, posh updo ranked supreme at the Oscars.


In spite of mild rain, these ladies looked radiant. The unexpected updos at this year’s awards shows not only complimented their overall looks but completed them.


The paparazzi jungled their cameras to capture shots of these celebs. No one was overlooked.


As an A-list hair guru, I was gratified.
